June 2008: Business Park Design
Aspin Consulting are lead Civil and Structural Engineering consultants for the design of a new business park on the outskirts of chesterfield. The new development, due for completion at the end of 2008, will provide office and workshop space for expanding local businesses and involves the redevelopment of a nine acre site which was formally an opencast mine.
Aspin Consulting, working closely with the lead architect (Project logistics), are contracted for both the enabling works; which comprises of bulk cut and fill works, highway design and retaining structures, and the proposed first structures which include a 2500m2 combined office and portal framed workshop with multiple overhead travelling cranes. Additional services are being provided working with the earthworks contractor, Rexco, both during the design phase and then on site during the works to specify, monitor and test the reclassified, engineered fill materials imported on to the site, material which would otherwise have been likely to have been sent to landfill thus saving the client time and money along with having environmental benefits. Further contracts for structural services are anticipated as the individual plot enabling works near completion.
