July 2008: Nuneaton Re-signalling

As part of the Rugby to Nuneaton project, Aspin have designed a number of bespoke and innovative piled solutions to suit site specific ground conditions and constraints for a variety of superstructure types and loadings. Solutions for the relatively straight forward single piled foundation with its multi directional, adjustable system allows signal post installation and alignment of the supported structure, through to a variety of two pile systems for gantries.

Aspin were also able to assist our client with a bespoke four piled solution where despite good ground conditions, site constraints dictated that traditional concrete pads, with temporary works, would have had serious time and cost implications to the project.

Many of the foundations where designed on a fast track programme and Aspin’s ability to meet our clients demanding programme led to further contract awards including foundations for large cantilevers. The foundations were installed using Aspin’s specialist Road Rail equipment and traditional static piling equipment including the successfully implemented Fambo Piling Hammer.

Aspin skills extend beyond steel piled foundations and at Nuneaton, they have been able to provide additional solutions including rock anchored foundations and king post retaining structures integral to their piled gantry support frames for the purpose of retaining embankments and location cabinets.
