The company offers clients a one-stop-shop service - from an initial consultation on conceptual ideas, computerised design and draughting to a co-ordinated solution that is delivered on time and in a professional manner.

We provide cost-effective design solutions for projects that include a good number of exacting client briefs for railway trackside sub and superstructures, infrastructure integrity surveys, site investigations, value engineering for Network Rail Station Assets, telecommunications platforms and mast structures, refurbishment schemes, topographical surveys, public footbridges and signal and electrification gantries.

A typical example of the scope of design work on a recent Railway project has been to produce all the design calculations and technical autocad drawings for (in phase 1 of the project):

• 11 steel lattice cantilever gantries with supporting twin steel pin foundations
• In excess of 100 foundations to support Collis Engineering's straight signal posts. All but a handful were supported on a single steel pin foundation solution – whether on embankments, cuttings or at grade ground profiles.
• Eight steel sheet piled retaining walls up to two metres in height, some of which have active traffic load directly applied to them.
• Slope-stability assessments with regard to earthworks and regrading of cuttings for trackside equipment and structures.

Phase 2 saw Aspin design "some seriously complex" signal portal and cantilever gantry structures.

Some portals spanned up to 25 metres and cantilevers projected up to 12 metres in lattice, truss and vierendeel truss design.

Phase 2 also saw the design and build of station platform steel gallows structures and corresponding foundations to support small sub signals and on-off train driver systems.
