Aspin Cyclists Fundraising Success

The idea of fundraising whilst losing weight with the aid of cycling, was formulated over a drink or two at the Aspin Christmas Party in December 2013.

Paul Johnston, Operations Director and Steve Lee, Finance Director, took this challenge on with the gusto that is only found within Aspin personnel.

For seven months, with rigorous training and healthy eating, the weight they lost between them was the equivalent of a "small person" and this spurred them on to participate in the London to Paris Cycle ride. This event took place on the 26th July over a four day period and Paul and Steve cycled 300 miles and raised £3500 for the Action Medical Research for Children Charity.

Following the success of this event, Paul and Steve gained more passion and enthusiasm for cycling and fundraising, and decided to embark on another challenge - the Coast to Coast - which is to cycle the 170 mile route from Morecambe to the Way of the Roses within 2 days.

For this event Paul and Steve were joined by other Aspin colleagues Paul Stratford, Andy Longhurst, Lee Healey and Callum Flanagan. The team chose to support local charity Ronald McDonald House, and set up a Justgiving Account with a fundraising target of £500. This target was exceeded, as is the Aspin mantra "always achieve and deliver more!".

Aspin Group are very proud of these colleagues for their commitment, not only to get healthy but also to raise funds for exceptionally great causes which are always near to all our hearts.
