Aspin recognised for health and safety innovation at British Drilling Awards

Aspin’s commitment to operational and technical excellence has been recognised at this year’s British Drilling Awards with its innovative R2R 4X4 Site Investigation Vehicle picking up the Industry Excellence Award.

The Land Rover vehicle, developed in partnership with Aquarius Railroad Technologies, provides innovative road to rail solutions – improving health and safety, reducing the need for additional logistics, increasing productivity and efficiency, and providing unparalleled on-site flexibility.

By removing the need to have workers manually move ground inspection machinery into place across the tracks, the R2R 4X4 Site Investigation Vehicle provides invaluable health and safety benefits, significantly minimising workers’ exposure to risk and preventing excessive fatigue throughout the course of a project.

The implementation of the R2R 4X4 Site Investigation Vehicle is a demonstrable example of Aspin’s “Safety gets us home!” programme – an initiative that ensures that health and safety remains at the heart of the culture of Aspin as the company enters an exciting new growth phase, with the goal of increasing turnover to £85m by 2020 following a rebrand and restructure.

Aspin CEO Russell Ward said: “The past month has seen a new era begin for Aspin, as we announced our ambitious growth plans and unveiled our new brand. This commendation demonstrates that our commitment to health and safety remains a priority on every project we work on.

“We recognise that we are only as good as our people, and their safety is the most important consideration for any scheme we’re involved with. This is why we developed our “Safety gets us home!” initiative – to place the safety of all of our employees and partners front-of- mind across the organisation.

“We’re dedicated to employee wellbeing and being a trusted partner to all of our clients - incorporating industry-leading health and safety innovations like the R2R 4X4 Site Investigation Vehicle demonstrates that continued commitment.”
