New in 2017 Land Rover R2R 4x4 SIV
Aspin’s innovative road to rail site investigation vehicle, developed in partnership with Aquarius Railroad Technologies, made its rail track debut in 2017 and received a national ‘Industry Excellence’ award in the same year.
With Network Rail product approval, it provides a fast, safe and economical means of facilitating ground investigations and can reduce track access time by up to 80%. It is specially designed to transport ground investigation teams and equipment with a rig on the vehicle that holds the drill securely and eliminates the risk of toppling or parting trolleys.
It overcomes Network Rail’s ban on link trolleys carrying more than one ton, which means that track window sample rigs, such as Dart & Dando rigs have to be transported to site using three trolleys. It’s part of Aspin’s extensive range of plant and equipment.
Patented Steel Pin Foundation
Our patented steel pin foundation is an extremely versatile foundation solution. We have the ability to drive steel pin foundations, up to 610mm in diameter, with varying wall thicknesses, in order to support superstructures with high bending moments and small footprints.
The main applications for the steel pin foundation include OLE and signal gantries, signal posts and embankment platforms; and it is particularly well suited to sites where space is limited and programming constraints require a rapid delivery. The main advantage of this method is that it is an all dry, vibration free process.
The Aspin RAMPad is a rapid foundation for lightweight structures and is an easily transportable strong and durable system, safe and simple to install in all weather conditions.
Because of its unique design the RAMPad requires minimum on-site operation and equipment and can easily be manhandled into position. When galvanised it has a life span of approximately 120 years and can be used as a foundation for, amongst others, lightweight lighting columns, speed signs, control units, level crossing structures of any lightweight steel or GRP structures.
The system, when filled with recycled material, is 98% recycled lowering the carbon footprint and all steel components are manufactured to British Standards, CARES approved and galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461.
With only 13 key components forming the deck, the single Aspin LOC staging is straightforward to construct on site or can be prefabricated and lifted in by RRV, enabling both the driven steel pile and the LOC staging to be installed in the same single shift.
The frame bolts directly to a single pile located directly under the LOC cabinet, and where multiple LOC’s are required, a single pile is positioned under each of the cabinets.
The modular nature of the stagings means that site specific variations can easily be accommodated such as alternate access positions, ladder access, alternate clearances and a wide variety of mounted equipment.
Modular Steel Frame Construction
The Hadley Frame was developed in partnership with Hadley Steel, to provide a lighter, easier to erect alternative to steel or concrete primary frames. It is a complete ore-panelised standalone steel frame structure, ideal for medium rise buildings across all commercial and residential sectors.
Our platform extensions are constructed off-site meaning the requirement for wet trades is removed and less waste is generated, less transport and labour means reduced carbon waste, reduced installation times mean less time is spent on track in potential hazardous conditions and together with the cost savings that off-site prefabrication brings, this system provides real advantages to the railway infrastructure.
