Principal Inspection Works - Ray Hall Viaduct

Project Overview

Spanning the months of July and August 2015, RSI were commissioned by EM Highways in Highways England Area 9 to undertake Routine Principal inspection works to the entire set (7no.) of Ray Hall Viaduct structures in Birmingham in accordance with BD63/07, in addition to completing the associated SMIS reports.

Although viaduct structures typically comprise of similar construction types throughout, they are all regarded as high profile structures due to the importance of the strategic routes they carry – specifically the M6 and M5 near the centre of Birmingham.

Inspection access methods involved operation of several MEWP types, including 21m, 22m and 35m truck mounts and a more specialised 21m self-propelled boom.

The works were completed within the scheduled programme and to the clients brief and satisfaction with regular communication throughout the works to ensure a quality service was maintained.
