For added reassurance that the retention structures will provide the required high integrity and robust performance, Aspin employs a specialist inspections and investigations team, including qualified geologists. Their services are used by highways, rail and civil engineering projects to accurately determine the ground conditions, slope stability and geological analysis for the best and most cost-effective design solution.

Aspin’s retaining wall solutions are structurally designed and constructed to resist the lateral pressure of soil in the most challenging environments and ground conditions, including changes in ground elevations where the angle of repose of the soil is exceeded.

Temporary Retaining Structures

There’s a wealth of knowledge and experience in the design and construction of temporary works of all types and in all environments, together with a large stock of sheet piles and framing material. It means clients receive the most suitable cofferdam or retaining structure to suit individual site needs.

Retaining Structure Design Solutions

For both permanent and temporary works geotechnical, environmental, safety, programme and financial factors are all evaluated for one or a combination of the following solutions:

  • Cantilever or propped/anchored sheet piling
  • Rock socketed king post with concrete or sheet pile panels
  • High modulus/combination wall
  • Cantilever or propped circular cofferdam

Installation Techniques

Effective installations are a core skill. These are achieved using Aspin-owned specialist equipment.  The leader rigs are capable of using a number of attachments which include resonance-free vibrator, impact hammer, pile press, auger bored and down the hole Hammer.

The appropriate attachment is selected to best suit the specific project requirements, ground conditions and pile type.

In addition Aspin offers EMV/Movax and conventional crane suspended vibrator and impact hammer installation using piling gates.

All techniques can be employed on floating plant for marine works.
