On Saturday 28th May a team of Firefighters based at Ilkeston will be pulling a fire engine from Heanor to Ikleston to raise funds and awareness for 3 charities close to their hearts.
The Fire Fighters charity is a national charity offering help to firefighters and their families following any illness, injury or traumatic events.
Dementia UK was a charity chosen because as a service they often visit people in their own homes suffering from early on set dementia. They have all received training as ‘Dementia friends’ to spot the early signs and offer help wherever they can.
The team have also selected Cardiac Risk in the Young, after one crew member suffered the tragic loss of a close friend at only 26 years of age who had an unknown heart defect.
This is just one of the chosen charity events that we are supporting this year and we wish the team every success. They have a fund raising page should you wish to make a contribution.
